Post Natal Pilates
Women’s bodies undergo huge transformations during pregnancy and early motherhood. Post-natal Pilates can help to restore function, stability and strength to the body during this important time of transition.
With a focus on bringing the body into alignment, re-educating it to move efficiently, and strengthening it from the inside out, post-natal Pilates can help to speed up post-natal recovery, helping you to feel healthier and happier in your own skin.
Post-natal Pilates classes are carried out on a one-to-one basis to ensure you receive the correct attention and focus. During the first session a full screening will be carried out to assess how you move and to identify any weak areas that need attention. With a focus on rebuilding your deep core strength, we will then work to release tension from your body while bringing it back into optimal alignment. Once the body is well aligned, the muscles can work to keep you stable, engaging in a functional and effortless way as you go about your daily activities. The result is an improvement in common post-natal injuries such as lower back pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, stress incontinence and diastasis recti, or mummy tummy.
Becoming the master of your own body will enable you to make wise choices about your lifestyle, your movement choices and your exercise habits. In time you will be able to return to your pre-pregnancy exercise programme with confidence, or embark on new activities with an increased awareness of your body.
