Pregnancy Pilates

Doing Pilates during pregnancy trains the body to be strong, flexible and functional, and to adapt to the demands of pregnancy. With a focus on strengthening the core, mobilising the spine, improving pelvic floor function and stabilising the pelvis, women who attend my Pilates classes have reported an improvement in back ache, a reduction in pelvic girdle pain and a quicker recovery post-natally.

Pregnancy Pilates classes are carried out as one-to-ones and are tailor-made to suit your specific needs. We work to build strength in the deep core muscles, helping to bring stability to the body and teach your body to continue working efficiently as you go about your normal daily movement. The result is a body that moves in the way it was designed to move, and is not restricted by aches, pains or pelvic floor weakness.

Sessions are held at one of our well-equipped studios in either Wetherby or Chapel Allerton, Leeds. They are suitable from 12 weeks of pregnancy right up to your due date. During the first session a full screening will be carried out to assess your movement patterns and help you to identify any limitations in your body. As you discover more about your body’s movement strategies, you will become the master of your own body, trust its ability to birth your baby, and have tools to help speed up your post-natal recovery.
