One to One Pilates
Pilates is a system of exercises developed by German-born Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. It uses low-impact, intelligent movements to improve the body’s movement efficiency, correct muscles imbalances, build strength and improve overall organisation of the body. With a focus on spine mobilising and lengthening, building core strength and using the breath to facilitate movement and create space in the body, Pilates is often lauded as the ideal antidote to our modern, sedentary lifestyle.
One-to-one Pilates sessions are the ideal way to address your specific movement or postural needs. Classes can be held at the purpose-built and well-equipped studio in the centre of Wetherby, or in North Leeds. You can book a session by clicking here.
During the first session, a full screening will be carried out to assess your habitual movement patterns and identify your limitations. You will then be given a series of exercises to address your individual needs. Each session is one hour and generally includes exercises to mobilise the spine, strengthen the core and improve overall alignment and function of the body. Props may be used for facilitate or challenge the movement, and these are all provided. All movements are gentle and accessible to all abilities including total beginner or those recovering from an injury. After each class you will be given homework to work through in your own time.
